The Hydro Series of high pressure water mist pump units are designed specifically for industrial and commercial applications. They offer quick and effective fire suppression, ensuring business downtime is kept to a minimum in case of any fire incident.
The Hydro pump units are compact, modular skid mounted units offering a range of 100 litres per minute to 700 litres per minute at maximum 140bar pressure. All systems can have a redundant pump for added safety. The Hydro pump series features integrated pilot/feeder pumps. An optional Star-Delta arrangement to reduce the starting current requirement is offered with our systems.
At the heart of the Hydro Series lies the 9-piston, stainless steel maintenance free pump. The system performance is enhanced by the use of these oil free, water lubricated pumps. The 9-piston pumps deliver a smooth water output with reduced pulsation, which plays a major role in creating an effective water mist spray pattern. As the pumps are water lubricated, there is a reduced potential of cross contamination of water and lubricating oil. All the pumps are maintenance free and are manufactured from 304 Stainless Steel.
Hydrocore High Pressure Water Mist Pump Units are designed for the protection of:
- Machinery and Combustion Turbines in Enclosures with volumes not exceeding 9,175 ft³ (260m³)
- Local Application Protection.
- Occupancies with lightly loaded non-storage & non-manufacturing areas with ordinary combustibles, also known as Hazard Category 1 (HC-1).
Hydrocore has a range of nozzles both of open and closed types. Open nozzles are designed to offer a total flooding or a deluge effect while the closed nozzles offer a targeted response.
Closed nozzle systems are used in environments where fire suppression may be required on a targeted basis. The nozzle is sealed with a heat-sensitive thermal element (frangible bulb) that fractures at a set temperature and allows the mist to be dispersed.
Hydrocore Closed (bulb) Nozzles are made of stainless steel. They are used in wet-pipe systems for the protection of Light Hazard Occupancies, an occupancy where the quantity and/or combustibility of contents is low and fires with relatively low rates of heat release are expected. The nozzle discharges water at 35.0l/min at normal working pressure. Each micro nozzle has an integral filter.

All Hydrocore systems are designed, manufactured and tested to NFPA750. Stainless steel conforms to following specifications: AISI 304 (body) AISI 316 (micro-nozzle)
Hydrocore Open Nozzles are made of stainless steel used in dry-pipe systems for the protection of machinery spaces, as part of a total flooding system or for protection of local applications. The nozzle discharges water at at a working pressure of 100bar. Each micro nozzle has an integral filter.
Hydrocore Open Nozzles are manufactured from stainless steel and are used in dry-pipe systems for the protection of machinery spaces, as part of a total flooding system. Total Flooding systems use open nozzles (they have no fusible element) spaced throughout a compartment. In this dry pipe system, the water is only contained in the pipework prior to the section valve, until automatically released by a signal from the Fire Detection System (FDS) or manual activation.
Depending upon the application the appropriate nozzles are selected to provide a desired fire suppression effect. Spacing between nozzles, max heights and flow rates are also specific to each type of nozzle.
All Hydrocore systems are designed, manufactured and tested to NFPA750.

There are two major types of section valves:
- Manually operated section valves (Open Section Valves)
- Actuated section valves (Closed section valves)
These are designed to automatically supply water from the main tank/reservoir to the integral buffer tank within the pump unit. The booster pump kit has filters & strainers which ensures that only filtered water is supplied to the buffer tank preventing any impurities from getting into the water mist system leading to nozzle blockages.
Main components are: Duty and redundant pumps which are configured based on individual project requirements, less than 20µm filters and y-strainers and associated fittings.
